Move 9 to the other side
Sign changes from + 9 to - 9
14-9 = 9-9-p
14-9 = - p
5=-p
Mutiply both sides by - 1 to get + p
(5) (-1) = (-p) (-1)
p = - 5
Answer: p = - 5
