1.2m = 0.5 What is m?

    1.2 is being multiplied by m and the product equals 0.5.

    That being said, we want to get m alone.

    The reverse of multiply is divide, so to get m, we are going to have to divide by 1.2.

    What we do on one side of the equal sign, we must do on the other side as well; and this is a great rule to know. So:

    1.2m = 0.5 = > 1.2m/1.2 = 0.5/1.2

    The 1.2/1.2 portion on the left side of the equation cancels out (because it equals 1), and we are then left with:

    m = 0.5/1.2
