    D) Total number of seats in the theater is 300.

    Step-by-step explanation:

Total income of the movie theater = $3,600

The cost of VIP tickets = $20 per person

The cost of regular tickets = $8 per person

Let the number of VIP tickets sold = m

So, the total number of regular tickets sold = 2m

Now, Earnings from selling VIP tickets

= Number of VIP tickets sold x Cost of each VIP ticket

    = m x $20 = 20 m

Also, Earnings from selling regular tickets

= Number of regular tickets sold x Cost of each regular ticket

    = 2m x $8 = 16 m

Total Earnings = Earning from VIP tickets + Earning from Regular tickets

    = 20 m + 16 m = 36 m

    or, 36 m = $3,600

    ⇒ m = 3600/36 = 100

Hence, the number of VIP tickets sold = m = 100

    and Regular tickets sold = 2 m = 2 x 100 = 200

Now, the total number of seats in the theater

= VIP tickets + Regular tickets

    = 200 + 100 = 300.

Total number of seats in the theater is 300.
