What is the first step solving this equation 3x+4y+3x=12+2y-8

    combine the like terms on each side (so just the two x's need to be added together), then subtract the 2y from 4y & solve from there

    3x+4y+3x=12+2y-8

    -2y - 2y

    3x+2y+3x=12+-8

    3x+3x=6x

    6x+2y=12+-8

    6x+2y=4

    6x/4=1.5x

    2y/4=0.5y
