Matt is repairing a gate and needs to nail a brace diagonally to strengthen the post. If the height of the post is 48 inches and there are 64in between Post s, in inches, what would be the length of the diagonal brace be in order to fit between the posts?

    So, we're going to use the Pythagorean theorem for this question.

    48 squared + 64 squared

    2304 + 4096 = 6400

    Square root of 6400 = 80 in

    The length of the diagonal brace would be 80 inches.
