A school has 97 students. Twelve of those students moved away. Karen simplified the expression 97 - 12 to find the number of students left at the school. Caleb solved it in a different way, but found the correct answer. What expression did he use? 97 + 12 97 + (-12) - 97 + 12 - 97 + (-12)

He would have had to use the expression,

    97 + (-12)

This is because positive and a negative equal a negative.
