Larry bought 2⁄3 pound of red potatoes and 3⁄4 pound of golden potatoes. How many pounds of potatoes did he buy in all?

    Common denominator between 3 and 4 is 12. 2/3 becomes 8/12, and 3/4 becomes 9/12. Add them to get 17/12, which equals 1 and 5/12 lbs.
