The 40 pounds is unnecessary information

all you have to do is look for 15% of 26 and subtract it form 26

    26 x. 15 = 3.9

    26 - 3.9 = $22.10

Percent means parts out of 100

    15%=15/100=0.15

    'of' means multiply

    15% of 26 means

    0.15 times 26=3.9 discount

    26-3.9=22.1

    it costs $22.9
