How do I solve 1+3n-8n=1-n-4n

    Add like terms. 3n-8n=-5n. - n-4n=-5n.

    The equation you get is 1+-5n=1-5n. Subtract 1 from each side to get - 5n=-5n. Since they are the same, n=0
