Assume the weight of a randomly chosen american passenger car is a uniformly distributed random variable ranging from 2,500 pounds to 4,500 pounds. (a) what is the mean weight of a randomly chosen vehicle?

    Let X = weight of the passenger car

    a/q, X is u (2500,4500)

    we know that mean = a+b/2

    so a=2500, b=4500

    hence, mean=2500+4500/2

    =3500 pounds
