The height of a distance marker is 8 2/13 feet. 4/5 of the pole is painted white and rest is painted blue. How much of the pole is painted white? How much of the pole is painted blue?

    1) Convert the mixed number 8 and 2/13 into a fraction:

    8 and 2/13 = 8 + 2/13 = (8*13 + 2) / 13 = 106 / 13

    2) Calculate 4/5 of 106 / 13

    (4 / 5) * (106 / 13) = (4*106) / (5*13) = 424 / 65

    That is (390 + 34) / 65 = 390/65 + 34/65 = 6 + 34/65 is painted white

    3) Calculate the rest

    (1/5) * (106 / 13) = 106 / 65 = 1 + 41/65 is painted blue
