    Negative one times the sum of twice a number and 3. - 1 * (2x + 3)

    Two times the difference of - 4 times the number and 3. 2 (-4x - 3)

    -1 * (2x + 3) = 2 (-4x - 3)

As we have constructed the equation by following the statements now it is pretty easy to solve the equation further.

    Now solving it gives us - 2x - 3 = - 8x - 6. 6x = - 3. So x = - 1/2.
