In this problem there is an unknown # ur trying to find
x+8=20. [subtract 8 from both sides]
x=20-8
therefor x = 12

when we say, 8 more than the number 20, the phrase, more than, means to add therefore, we really mean 8 + 20.
Thus, this would be 28.
