Al and Barb both go to the store to buy school supplies, Al buys 11 colored pencils for $0.69 each, and Barb buys 3 packs of folders for $2.70 per pack. Who spent more at the store? explain.

    Barb spent more because, he bought the folders for more than what Al has bought the colored pencils for, but it all totals out to him for $8.10 and Barb spent $7.59. Since Al spent $7.59 total and Barb spent $8.10 total, Barb spent more money on those folders.

    Barb spent 7.59 because that is what 11 x 0.69 equals

    AL spent 8.10 because that is what 2.70 x 3 equals

    so therefore Al spent more money
