Aside from the phone number, other categorical variables in the survey that was conducted are family size, dad's occupation, whether mom works, and kind of pets. Remember that the categorical variable is also known as a qualitative variable. It means that categorical variables are mostly descriptions of something, can be an individual or group of people or things. Although phone number is entails a numerical figure, but it doesn’t necessarily give percents or counts, or even numbers which makes it also a part of the categorical variable.
