    lets name Yolandas daughters age as x

    Yolanda is 4 years younger than 3 times her daughters age

    so we have to put this as an expression

    3 times her daughters age is 3x

    and 4 years younger than 3x is - 3x - 4

    therefore Yolandas age is 3x - 4

    the sum of their ages is greater than 88 so lets assume its 88

    x + (3x - 4) = 88

    x + 3x - 4 = 88

    4x - 4 = 88

    4x = 92

    x = 23

    but we know that their sum is greater than 88

    so x cannot be equal to 23, it should be more than 23. then only the sum of Yolandas daughters and moms age adds up to more than 88

    therefore the youngest age Yolandas daughter could be is 24

    The two equations are going to be 3x-4=y and x+y=88.

    3 (23) - 4=65 23+65=88

    Considering your problem says greater than 88, The youngest her daughter can be would be 24.

    3 (24) - 4=68 24+68=92
