Carter and his friends are setting up a lemonade stand in their neighborhood. Their recipe makes 5 cups of lemonade, and calls for 1.5 cups of lemon juice. How many cups of lemon juice are needed to make 2 gallons of lemonade? Round your answer to the nearest tenth if necessary. A) 4.8 cups B) 9.6 cups C) 32.8 cups D) 53.3 cups

    The answer is B) 9.6 cups

    I started out with a fraction

    1.5cups/5cups because there's 1.5 cups of lemon juice in every 5 cups of lemonade. Then I set that equal to x/32 cups because there are 32 cups in 2 gallons.

    1.5/5=x/32

    Then you simply cross multiply

    (1.5) (32) = 5x

    And you get 9.6!
