The following formula relates three quantities: Force (F), mass (m), and acceleration (a).

F = ma

(a) Solve this equation for a.

(b) Let the force be F = - 25 units and the mass be m = 5 units. What is the acceleration, a?

(c) Let the force be F = 25 units and the acceleration be a = 2.5 units. What is the mass, m?

    Step-by-step explanation:

    (a) So in order to find acceleration you would have to transpose the formula given so that acceleration is the subject of the equation;

    F=ma

    Because mass is multiplying acceleration to transpose this so that "a" is the subject you would do the opposite of Multiplication on the other side;

    F=ma

    a/f=m

    a=fm

    This now has "a" as the subject.

    (b) This is the formula we will be working with (a=fm) because this problem requires "a" to be the subject of the equation.

    a=fm

    a = - 25 units * 5 units

    a = - 125 units

    (c) The same rule applies mass is suppose to be the subject of the equation.

    F=ma

    m/f=a

    m=fa

    m = 25 units * 2.5 units

    m = 62.5 units
