In the 2000 Summer Olympics, the United States relay team ran the 1,600-meter relay in 2 minutes, 56.35 seconds. To the nearest hundredth, what was the speed for the relay race in meters per second?

    In total the team ran 176.35 seconds.

    So, I now need to find the average speed which would be 1,600/176.35 = 9.07

    the average speed was 9.07 meters per second.
