    45 minutes is 3/4 of an hour.

    Divide 36 miles by 3/4 to find the number of miles traveled in one hour:

    36 / 0.75 = 48 miles per hour.

    Now you can multiply number of hours (x) by 48 to find total miles:

    y = 48x
