Which number should each side of the equation 34x=9 be multiplied by to produce the equivalent equation of x = 12?

    3/4x = 9 ... multiply both sides by 4/3 ... eliminating the 3/4 on the left side

    x = 9 * 4/3

    x = 36/3

    x = 12

    There exists no number that could make x=12. Simply because x does not = 12, but x = 9/34
