Two sides of a rectangle are x - 7 and 2x + 1. Write an expression that represents the perimeter of this rectangle.

So, if the base of the rectangle is for example, 3 meters then the top of the rectangle would be three meters. This is the same with each sides of the rectangle.     So, you could represent the perimeter with an expression as such:

    P = 2h + 2k

    Where h is the length of the rectangle and k is the "height" or one side of the rectangle.

    So here we have x-7 and 2x+1

    So we can just fill this in as our h and k

    P = 2 (x-7) + 2 (2x+1)

    P = 2x-14 + 4x + 2

    P = 6x-12

    So the expression representing the perimeter is 6x-12
