    in 1950 total population = 2.5million

    in + 50yrs i. e 2000 the population = 2 * 2.5million = 5million

    x = y = 2.5 million

    x + 50 = (2^1) y

    x + 50 (2) = 2 (^2) y

    since 2100 - 1950 = 150 I. e 50*3

    x + 50 (3) = (2^3) y

    = 8 * 2.5million = 200million by 2100
