The sum of two numbers is 47. one of the numbers is 2 more than twice the other number. find the value of the smaller number.

    X + y = 47

    x = 2y + 2

    2y + 2 + y = 47

    3y + 2 = 47

    3y = 47 - 2

    3y = 45

    y = 45/3

    y = 15

    x = 2y + 2

    x = 2 (15) + 2

    x = 30 + 2

    x = 32

    ur numbers are 15 and 32
