Find the width of a rectangle if the length is 12 centimeters and the perimeter is 42 centimeters

    Perimeter = (2 x length) + (2 x width)

    42cm = (2 x 12 cm) + (2 x width)

    2 x Width = 42cm - (2 x 12 cm) = 42 - 24 = 18 cm

    Width = 9 cm.

    y=12cm

    Perimeter = 2*x+2*y

    Perimeter=42cm

    42=2*12+2x

    42=24+2x

    2x=18 / : 2

    x=9
