There are 14 books on a shelf. 6 of these books are new.

(a) What is the ratio of used books to all books?

(b) What is the ratio of new books to used books?

    A: 8:14. This is because of there are 14 books total and 6 are new, 14-6=8 so 8 are old. Simplified this is 4:7

    B: 6:8 this is just the amount of new books compared to the amount of old. Simplified, this is 3:4
