    There were 12 birds on Thursday

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Two equations are needed in a systems of equations.

    82=3.5 (b) + 4 (c)

    Finding a relation between b and c:

    22=b+c

    c=22-b

    Replacing c with 22-b we get:

    82=3.5 (b) + 4 (22-b)

    82=3.5b+88-4b

    82=88-0.5b

    -6=-0.5b

    b=12
