    The slope of a line refers to the steepness of a line. It can be modeled using the following formula.

    m (slope) = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

    In which two ordered pairs on the line would be (x1, y1) and (x2, y2).

    A solution of any line is an ordered pair that sits on the line. So for instance, if we had the line below:

    y = 2x - 1

    And we had the x-value of - 1, then we would put that into the equation to find the y-value.

    y = 2 (-1) - 1

    y = - 2 - 1

    y = - 3

    Then we would have a solution using that ordered pair (-1, - 3)
