    80 square yards of carpet will be needed

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Area = length * width

    Area = 30 * 24

    ∴ area = 720 ft²

    But carpets are sold in square yards, therefore there is need to convert square feet to square yard.

    To convert feet to yard, we divide the length by 3, but since we are dealing with area, that is, square feet, we divide by the square of 3, which is 9

    720 ft² into yard²

    =720/9

    = 80 yards²
