    Slope-intercept form is y=mx+b

    M is your slope and b is your y-intercept.

    First you need to move the 5x over to the other side. To do that you do the opposite. Since you are adding 5x to 4y, you need to subtract the 5x. Then you need to subtract it on the other side.

    5x + 4y = 4

    -5x - 5x

    4y = - 5x + 4 (the same as 4 - 5x)

    Now you need to get the 4 by itself so you divide it from the y and divide everything else on the other side by 4.

    4y = - 5x + 4

    /4 / 4 / 4

    Y = - 5/4x + 1 is in slope-intercept form
