    Ok so the amounts are x and 100-x

    0.24x+0.5 (100-x) = 0.36 (100)

    solve

    0.24x+50-0.5x=36

    -0.26x+50=36

    mminus 36 both sides

    -0.26x=-14

    divide both sides by - 0.26

    x=53.8462

    find other one

    100-x=100-53.8462=46.1538

    53.8462 gallons of the 24%

    46.1538 gallons of the 50%
