A box contains 95 pink runner bands and 90 brown rubber bands. You select a rubber band at random from the box. Find each probability. Write the probability as a fraction is simplest form.

a. Find the theoretical probability of selecting a pink rubber band.

b. Find the theoretical probability of selecting a brown rubber band.

    95 pink rubber bands

    90 brown rubber bands

    185 rubber bands in all.

    Probability of pink : 95/185 ⇒ 19/37

    95 : 5 = 19

    185 : 5 = 37

    Probability of brown : 90/185 ⇒ 18/37

    90 : 5 = 18

    185 : 5 = 37
