In a school, 60% of the students are girls.

50% of the girls walk to school.

20% of the boys walk to school.

What percentage of the students walk to school?

    Let x=100%

    60% of girls = 60x/100

    Rest are boys. It means 40 % are boys

    40% Of boys = 40x/100

    Now according to question,

    50 %of girls = (50/100) * (60x/100)

    =3x/10

    Again,

    20% of boys = (20/100) * (40x/100)

    =2x/25

    Now percentage of students who walk to school = (3x/10) + (2x/25)

    =19x/50

    Putting x=100 %, we get

    19x/50

    = (19*100%) / 50

    =19*2%
