Luther and Martin are members of different video game libraries.

Luther pays an $85 membership fee and $9 for each video game he rents.

The following function shows the total amount of money, y, in dollars, that Martin pays for renting x number of video games:

y = 6x + 60.

How many more dollars does Luther pay for a membership fee than Martin?

    In this case you actually don't have to do much of any work. The 6x means Martin pays six dollars per game. That means the additional 60 is his membership fee. Luthers function would look like this: y = 9x+85 which 85 is the fee and he pays nine dollars per game. Subtract the fees and you get that Luther pays $15 more for the membership.
