    Area of a square is length multiplied by height.

    36=l*h

    In a square length is the same as hiehgt.

    36=l*l

    What multiplied by itself equals 36? 6. So the current length of the sides is 6ft.

    Each side is increased by 4ft, so 6+4=10, the new lengths are 10ft.

    Perimeter is all the sides added together, the square has four sides each 10ft long so 10+10+10+10=40

    The new perimeter is 40ft
