    Smallest number = 6

    x = smallest number

    x + 2 = greatest number

    x + x + 2 = 14

    2x + 2 = 14

    -2 - 2

    2x = 12

    /2 / 2

    x = 6 (smallest)

    x + 2

    6 + 2 = 8 (greatest)

    Consider, integers as, x and (x+2)

    Now, x + (x+2) = 14

    2x+2=14

    2x=12

    x=6. and it is smallest.
