    The carp

    Step-by-step explanation:

In this question, we are simply asked to find which depth is greater.

For the carp, it is swimming at a distance of 8 1/4 ft beneath the water. Now since 1/4 is same as 0.25, this means she is swimming at a depth of 8.25 below the water.

For the sunfish, it is swimming at a depth of 3 1/2 ft. 1/2 is same is 0.5. This means she is swimming at a depth of 3.5 ft

Obviously we can see that 8.25 is greater than 3.5 so we say that the carp is swimming at a farther distance beneath the water surface
