    -2 is the constant on both sides so if you pull out the - 2 you get ...

    (-2) * [3*4]

    which can further be simplified to

    (-2) * 12 - --> (-2) 12

    Since both sides have a - 2 in then you can pull it out making the equation - 2 (3*4) which equals - 2 (12) so A is correct
