A colony of ants has 50,000 members. Sam thinks the colony will grow at a rate of 4.5% each hour. About how many ants should he expect there to be in the colony after 10 hours

    The formula for exponential growth (growing at a percentage) is

    (initial amount) x 1 + (the percentage in decimal form) ^ (time)

    In this case, it would be

    50,000 (1.045) ^10
