    The number of visitors at a trade fair doubles each day. There were 2 visitors on the first day, 4 visitors on day two, 8 visitors on day three, and so on. The number of people on day x = 2x

    p = f (x) = 2x

    The number of bacteria in a culture doubles each hour. There were 2 bacteria initially.

    number (n) of bacteria after x hours = (number of bacteria) hours

    n = f (x) = 2 x
