    Step 1: Subtract 2x from both sides.

    4x-4-2x=2x+2-2x

    2x-4=2

    Step 2: Add 4 to both sides.

    2x-4+4=2+4

    2x=6

    Step 3: Divide both sides by 2.

    2x2=6/2
