A 3 foot pole casts a 6 foot shadow. A 4 foot pole casts an 8 foot shadow.

Use a linear equation to predict the length of a shadow cast by a 6 foot pole.

    Since this is linear the rate is constant, and by similar triangles we can say

    s/h=s/h

    s/6=6/3

    s/6=2

    s=12 ft
