Ian borrowed 1000 bucks from his parents and ken burrowed 600 bucks. Ian plans to pay them back at the rate of $60 per month. Ken plans to pay his parents at a rate of $20 per month. How many months will the boys owe the same amount?

    After x months Ian owes 1000 - 60x

    After x months Ken owes 600 - 20x

    They're equal when

    1000 - 60x = 600 - 20x

    400 = 40x

    x = 10

    Answer: 10 months
