You first write both as fractions and then you multiply the top and the bottom by the opposite number. Write the ratios as fractions. Do all the possible simplifying of both fractions. If the ratios are equal, then both fractions will be identical when you reduce them to simplest form.

    - - Write both ratios as fractions.

    - - Do all the simplifying that's possible, for both fractions.

    - - If the ratios are equivalent, then when you get all done

simplifying both fractions, they'll both turn out to be exactly

    the same fraction.
