Find the area of a right triangle that has one leg with a length of 8 centimeters and a hypotenuse length of 17 centimeters.

    Since is a right triangle use the Pythagorean theorem to find the missing length in the triangle

    17² = 8² + x²

    x²=17² - 8²

    x² = 289-64=225

    x=√225=15

    Area of the triangle is 8·15/2=60 cm²
