Torvald's is deciding whether to drive to work every day or by monthly bus pass with a bus pass he will spend 1.25 each day to get to and from work on top of the monthly fee of $42 however he if he drives he will only have to spend three dollars per day on gas

    Bus = 1.25d + 42

    Car = 3d

    3d = 1.25d + 42 [solving for days]

    1.75d = 42

    d = 24

    under 24 days, Driving will cost less

    over 24 days, Bus will cost less.
