The school office is now selling neon mechanical pencils. If the office pays $10.80 for a dozen pencils, how much should be charged to make a profit of 75 cents each?

    The Answer Is each pencil should be $1.65 to make a profit of 75 cents. $10.80 divided by 12 which is a dozen, is 90 cents per pencil. Add 75 cents which is the profit they want to make and you get $1.65.
