The area or a rectangular mirror is 11 11/16 square feet. The width of the mirrors is 2 3/4 feet. If there is a 5 foot tall space on the wall to hang the mirror, will it fit. Explain

    Solution:

    Assumption: There is sufficient wall width to take the mirror.

    If (2 3/4) * 5 is more than the surface area of the mirror then it will fit.

    Note that (2 3/4) → 11/4 so we have wall surface are → (11/4) * 5 = 55/4

    wall surface are: - 55/4 = (13 3/4) ft²

    As the area of the mirror (11 11/16) ft² < (13 3/4) ft² area of the wall

    Then the mirror fits.
