A rectangular garden has a perimeter of 92 feet. If the length of the garden is 1 foot greater than twice its width, what is the length of the garden in feet?

    Width = w

    length, l = 2w + 1

    perimeter, p

    p = 2w + 2l

    92 = 2w + (2 * (2w+1))

    92 = 2w + 4w + 2

    92 = 6w + 2

    6w = 90

    w = 15

    so length of the garden

    2w + 1

    2*15 + 1

    31 feet
