    Answer: 14 dimes and 8 quarters

    Step-by-step explanation:

    dimes ($0.10) : x + 6

    quarters ($0.25) : x

    Cost*quantity of dimes + Cost*quantity of quarters = Total value

    0.10 (x + 6) + x (0.25) = 3.40

    0.10x + 0.60 + 0.25x = 3.40

    0.35x + 0.60 = 3.40

    -0.60 - 0.60

    0.35x = 2.80

    :0.35 : 0.35

    x = 8

    dimes: x + 6 = 8 + 6 = 14
